St George’s Celebration

April 23 rd saw our first ever celebration of England’s patron saint – St George.  Here in the Catalan region of southern France there is also a long tradition of celebrating April 23rd.  The Catalan festival of Sant Jordi also celebrates St George, they believe he was Catalan.  It is traditional for the Catalans to give a book or a red rose to a loved one.

Our St George celebration was based around a very English menu, some English ale and lots of flags!  A good time was had by all including some of our French neighbours.

Holiday

The Christmas and New Year festivities have now passed, everyone has indulged and, in the most part, now returned to work.  That all means that the restaurant has been busy and now it is time for us to take a short break!

La Meridienne will be closed from Friday 8th January 2016 and re-open for lunch on Friday 29th January.

Whilst we are on holiday we will be writing some new exciting menus and preparing for the Valentine’s weekend in February.  Oh, and we might find time for some skiing now that the snow has arrived here in the Pyrenees Orientales!

Autumn

After trading now for nearly 4 months we are at the end of the summer and about to enter a new phase; autumn and winter approach!

Launched this week for the autumn we have some exciting events taking place on the weekends at La Meridienne.  Friday evenings become Fresh Fish Friday with a different fish dish each Friday depending on what is available at the market.  Saturday evening is Steak Night and Sunday evening is a relaxed affair with our full menu and an extensive selection of Tapas.

We are also the only restaurant in Prades to offer a fixed price menu du jour on Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes
