The summer has arrived, the sky is blue and warm days are here. It is, however, likely to be a very different summer!
Since re-opening on June 2nd we have increased our indoor capacity slightly – we have found space to add an extra table for 4 people. All our tables are at least 1 metre apart, whether it be inside or outside. The current legislation also states that if you are moving about in the restaurant ie. waiting to be seated, visiting the bathroom etc you must wear a face mask. You must also, as much as possible, maintain a distance of more than 1 metre from us. For this reason we have closed off the area by the bar and will come to your table to handle payment.
The news has been good from the French government and bars and restaurants have been authorised to re-open from Tuesday 2 june 2020.
There are a number of new regulations which we will all have to observe. Tables must be at least 1 metre apart, so we have had to reduce the number of customers that we can accept. In the main body of the restaurant we have 3 tables set for a total of 8 customers. In the small room we have 2 tables of two and outside we have a table for 4 and two tables of 2.
If you enter the restaurant you must wear a mask over your mouth and nose. This can be removed once you are sat at the table. There is also a one-way system in the restaurant, so you will leave by a different door to the one you entered through. Hydroalcoholic gel is available for you to use.
We have produced a new menu and hope to expand it and change it as we progress through the summer. We are still offering our very popular take away service.
Further to our last post advising of a temporary closure, I am happy to say that we will be opening on a limited basis for take away orders.
Starting Saturday 4 April for lunchtime we will be offering a take away service. For this week it will be a 3 course menu of the day plus some paninis. We are hoping to extend our opening next week and should be offering lunch on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We are also planning to offer an Easter Sunday lunch. Due to the current coronavirus restrictions we are only able to offer take away.
The ordering process is simple. We will accept orders via SMS to our usual number, you may send us an email or send us a message through facebook. Please be as precise as possible with your order and the time you would like to collect. We will respond to you and give you a time for collection. Orders can be collected from the front door – unfortunately you are not allowed inside the restaurant. We accept card payments and cash.
Please be assured that we will operate to the highest hygiene standards and will provide our usual high standard of food and service.
As everyone is no doubt aware all the restaurants and bars in France have been ordered to close until, at least, 15th April. There are exceptions to this if the restaurant offers a take away or delivery service. We had seriously considered offering a take away only service but with the new heightened restrictions that came in to effect we feel it would not be viable for us and we also do not wish to place ourselves or our customers at risk.
We are currently at home, gradually eating the stock from the restaurant and making plans for when we are allowed to re-open. As soon as this is possible we will be back with new menus and, possibly, a slightly new concept.
In the meantime please stay safe, observe the restrictions and together we will defeat this virus and come back stronger and better than ever!!
St Valentine’s, Friday 14th February 2020, is an opportunity for you to enjoy a special evening with us at the restaurant. It is also a leap year, so ladies the ball is in your court! We had planned to create a “pop-up” restaurant at our home but we have had to change our plans.
The restaurant will be open on the friday evening of St Valentine’s and we will be serving a special menu. The menu may also be available on saturday 15th but we cannot guarantee that at this stage.
There is the possibility to add a supplementary course of breaded scallops with leeks wrapped in nori for an additional 5€.
Booking is essential, which can be done from the Bookings page on this site.
The end of year festivities have finished and we have welcomed a new decade but the fun has not finished there!
The Chinese New Year, or as it is also known, the Lunar New Year, takes place on saturday 25th january. We are creating a special Chinese themed menu in the restaurant for the evening of the 25th. Being conscious that is January and many people will have overspent during December we have priced this special evening at an incredible 20€. There will be enough food to satisfy the largest of appetites!
If you would like to join us for the Chinese New Year on saturday 25th January you will need to reserve your place by wednesday 22nd January.
Moving into February, St Valentine’s on the 14th. We are once again creating a “pop-up” restaurant at our home in Fuilla for a very special meal on the evening of the 14th. We have a large space at the front of our house with panoramic views across to the Mount Canigou which we will endeavour to make as romantic as possible!
It is already December and Christmas is fast approaching!
This year the Prades Christmas market is scheduled for sunday december 15th and will be held in the Place de la Republique. La Meridienne will be open at lunchtime with a special seasonal menu. You will see that the menu shows our English roots – smoked salmon, prawns and turkey!
The Foire au Gras et Volailles is scheduled for sunday 17th november in the Place de la Republique, Prades. The restaurant will be open at lunchtime for this event and we will have a special menu on offer to complement La Foire.
Reservation is important and you can make your reservation by email to firstname.lastname@example.org
or by telephone 04.68.96.78.87
From the 18th november until 28th november (inclusive) the restaurant will be closed for our holiday but will be open for the Christmas and New Year festivities. I will publish the menu for Christmas Eve very shortly.
